From a quarterly earnings perspective, Smilegate’s decision to focus esports resources on Asia was rational. But the cost of that rationality was the forfeiture of global esports relevance. CrossFire will never be a game that a North American or European child aspires to play professionally because CrossFire’s competitive ecosystem doesn’t exist in their region.
